According to the astronomical calculations, the crescent for the month of Ramadan is unlikely to be seen above Singapore's horizon when the sun set this evening, as it is too small and does not meet the criteria of imkanur rukyah agreed upon by members of MABIMS countries.

This means that tomorrow marks the 30th day and the completion of the month of Syaaban. As such, I am pleased to declare that the first day of fasting for the month of Ramadan falls on Tuesday, 12 March 2024.

I would like to wish all Muslims in Singapore a blessed month of Ramadan and let us fulfil our fasts and acts of worship with full appreciation and excellence. May God grant us the spiritual and physical strength to enliven this month as best as we can.

MUFTI OF SINGAPORE
