prophet muhammad songs

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is the perfect role model that we all strive to follow in every aspect of our lives. He tirelessly taught us that “forgiveness is greater than revenge, perseverance is larger than retaliation and love is better than hate.” (‘4 Lessons of Love and Mercy from Prophet Muhammad’, 2019)

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is so important to us that our shahadah is not complete without the belief that Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is a messenger of Allah.

However, how do we truly believe in and love someone we have not met?

Some of the ways are to recite the selawat (prayer to send peace and blessings to Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.) and learn more about him. (‘How To Love Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.’, 2019)

Here are 6 songs that highlight the beautiful traits of our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w:

‘Kau Yang Kenalkan Cinta’ ('You Taught Me Love') by Reyza Hamizan, Bakti Khair and Nabillah Jalal

In a world full of hate, Muslim.Sg’s vision is to build a community that supports each other.

In line with this vision and in conjunction with the month of Rabiulawal (the birth month of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, Muslim.Sg produced its first music video ‘Kau Yang Kenalkan Cinta’ (‘You Taught Us Love’). The scenes in this video are inspired by the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

We hope that this video motivates you to follow in Prophet Muhammad s.a.w’s footsteps and show love and mercy to all of God’s creations.

'Peace Be Upon You' by Maher Zain

It’s almost impossible to attend a wedding and not hear one of Maher Zain’s songs. His Islamic-themed tunes, that are done in contemporary pop styles, are catchy yet meaningful.

One of Maher Zain’s most touching songs is ‘Peace Be Upon You’.

When you listen to ‘Peace Be Upon You’, trust me, it would be hard not to feel moved or even cry.

'Ya Nabi Salamun Alaika' by Raihan

If there was one word to describe Raihan, it would be ‘legendary’. The Malaysian nasyid group took the world by storm in the 1990s. They became such a worldwide phenomenon that they toured every continent except Antarctica!

Their song “Ya Nabi Salamun Alaika” is one of their heartfelt songs that you may remember listening to while growing up.

'Ya Rasulullah Salamun Alaik' by Shoutul Jundil Muslim

In the 1990s, Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah students came together to form a nasyid group called ‘Shoutul Jundil Muslim’ to help fund the development of their school. Their songs were so popular that they managed to sell 50,000 copies of the first album!

May we love Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. with all our hearts and make sincere efforts to follow his footsteps in our daily lives.
