Free english islamic classes in Singapore

As Muslims, seeking knowledge is so important that it is an obligation. Ideally, all our actions should be based on sound religious knowledge from trustworthy scholars. 

Although the process may seem difficult, we are hopeful that our efforts will bring us closer to Jannah. Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet s.a.w said:

"Whoever treads a path of seeking knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him." 

(Imam Muslim)

Thankfully, we have many Islamic classes in Singapore that are conducted regularly. Go to any mosque and you will be able to find a schedule of lessons taught by our wonderful local ustaz and ustazah. 

What's even more amazing is that there are so many Islamic happenings islandwide that are being offered for free. That's right! You can get invaluable knowledge without paying a cent!

Here's a list of 9 upcoming Islamic classes and events that you have to check out:

1)  JustAsk! AYN 

JustAsk! AYN is a series of interactive Islamic sessions conducted by Asatizah Youth Network in English. During each session, you get the opportunity to learn Islamic knowledge and discuss relevant topics in a relaxed setting. 

Each JustAsk! AYN starts with a short sharing by asatizah based on broad themes such as "Ramadan and You", "Millennials and Spirituality" and "Beyond Hijrah: What's Next?".

After that, participants are divided into small groups where they get to engage ustaz and ustazah from Asatizah Youth Network and share their thoughts about issues that matter to them.

2) MuslimSg Pop Up Events 

Free Islamic event MuslimSg Pop Up by Asatizah Youth Network

Muslim.Sg is a one-stop online media platform that aims to inspire and empower Singapore Muslims with bespoke Islamic religious content. Several times a year, our pop up events offer our social media followers the opportunity to meet up and engage Asatizah Youth Network.

3) The Chosen One - A Study of Prophet Muhammad’s Character and Values (Abridged version)

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. occupies a special place in all our hearts. He was sent as a mercy not just to Muslims but also to the universe. The Quran describes that

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah, you have an excellent example to follow."

(Al-Ahzab, 33:21)

As Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is the best role model with exemplary qualities that we should emulate, how do we apply his teachings and values in our daily lives?

4) Living Sources: Al Quran and Sunnah (Abridged version)

Al-Quran and As-Sunnah are the two everlasting legacies left by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. in providing the eternal guidance to humanity. Through the study of the Al-Quran, students will be introduced on ways to appreciate the specialty of Al-Quran – the sacred words of Allah that are well preserved today and acknowledge the importance of As-Sunnah as the foundation of Islamic knowledge.

In the shortened version of ADIL SG's full course on Living Sources: Al Quran and Sunnah, learn from Ustaz Khalid Rafi as he covers the following points:

  • The special position of Al-Quran as the enduring miracle of our beloved Rasulullah s.a.w

5) Clarifying Doubts: Being A Muslim in Singapore (abridged)

According to a study done by the Pew Research Center, Singapore is the most religiously diverse nation in the world. As Muslims, how do we live alongside people who are different from us? From an Islamic point of view, what are our duties as citizens?

ADIL SG runs a "Being a Muslim in Singapore" series to tackle these questions and more. If you would like a preview of how the full course is like, do attend the abridged class conducted by Ustaz Khairul Anwar.

Ustaz Khairul would be able to share interesting personal experiences because he is passionate about interfaith work and is a board member of the Punggol West Inter-Racial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC).

6) Kuliah Tafsir by Mufti Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram (Malay)

Mufti Dr Mohamed Fatris Bakaram conducts a free class called 'Kuliah Tafsir' every Sunday at Masjid Darul Makmur. You can look forward to hearing him explain the verses in the Quran and understand how to apply its timeless values, wisdom, and teachings in our daily lives. 

Kuliah Tafsir is also streamed 'live' every week on MuslimSg's Facebook and YouTube!

7) Heroes Class by Ustaz Zahid Zin

Ustaz Zahid is the CEO of Muslim Youth Forum (MYF), a platform that facilitates dialogues and religious classes on positive socio-religious values and practices for youth in Singapore. One of its signature programmes is the  “Heroes Class” that is conducted weekly by Ustaz Zahid. When the class started in 2010, only 30 youth attended. Now, it has now grown to include more than 500 youth!

8) Be Loved by the Beloved by Alwafa' Institute

Ustazah Nadia Hanim studied women’s fiqh extensively at Daruz Zahra in Tarim Hadramaut, Yemen before graduating with B.A. Usuluddin from Al-Azhar University. She currently heads Alwafa’, an institute that aims to provide moral and spiritual guidance and illuminate souls through knowledge and wisdom. The team of Ustazahs who work at Alwafa' are all qualified teachers who graduated from Al-Azhar in Egypt and DaruzZahra' in Hadramaut, Yemen.

Every year, they organize an all-ladies celebration of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. with the aim of bringing to life the stories, the lessons and the love for our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w with videos, skits, songs, and heartfelt lectures.

On 9 November 2019, join the ladies at Masjid Al-Ansar Auditorium from 5 to 9.30 pm!

9) Quranic Studies for Life by Ustaz Mizi Wahid

Ustaz Mizi Wahid inspires thousands daily on his social media platforms with his beautiful reminders and inspiring words of wisdom.  He graduated from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, majoring in the field of Shariah (Islamic Jurisprudence). 

Ustaz Mizi is the founder of Safinah Institute. Since early 2014, he has been conducting Quranic Studies for Life every Sunday at 10.00 am at Al-Islah Mosque's main prayer hall.
